Welcome to the 7th edition of the HFE Conference

The annual Hospitality Finance & Economics Conference (HFE) is a forum and platform for experts and academics in the hospitality finance, economics and real estate fields to share their knowledge and insights to investors, policy makers and consumers in hospitality and beyond. As finance, real estate and economics experts need to work in unison, the creation and sharing of insights is paramount in creating a wholesome environment for investors, managers, policy makers and consumers, in hospitality and beyond. Hosting renowned experts and academics, this conference aims at facilitating knowledge creation and sharing across disciplines.

In collaboration with the National University of Singapore's Institute of Real Estate & Urban Studies (IREUS), the 7th edition of the HFE Conference will be taking place in Singapore for the first time! The theme for 2023 is Challenges, Opportunities & Innovation in the Hospitality and Real Estate industries.

About HFE 2023

After a protracted period of border closures during the pandemic, tourism is now very much alive and kicking, with “revenge travel” creating unanticipated bottlenecks. At the macro level, high interest rates continue to dampen growth and consumption, while the banking crisis in mature economies and geopolitical tensions inject further uncertainty. How best can the hospitality and real estate sectors respond?

Industry doyen Mr Ho Kwon Ping, Founder and Executive Chairman of Banyan Tree Group, will be joining us for a fireside chat on how the hospitality and real estate sectors can best navigate the post-Covid landscape. The session is moderated by the Former Chairman of IREUS, Dr Seek Ngee Huat, who is himself a pivotal figure in real estate.

NUS Business School’s Professor Sing Tien Foo will be moderating a discussion featuring distinguished panellists, while Professor Sumit Agarwal will also share his insights as guest speaker.

Here’s an opportunity to see leading figures in hospitality and real estate broach a broad array of topics.

  • Outlooks and state of geo-political tension and fragmentation of financial markets
  • Impact of macro-economic uncertainties on the hospitality and real estate industries
  • Changing business strategies post-Covid
  • Balancing between economic and environmental sustainability
  • Technological disruptions in the hospitality and real estate industries
  • “Design-led culture” for hospitality and real estate firms
